Damage from Atomic Bombs: Medical perspectives
Organizer: Japan Federation of Democratic Medical Institutions
Eighty years have passed since the atomic bombing, and the average age of hibakusha now exceeds 85. The number of hibakusha living alone is increasing, and the need for medical care and nursing care is increasing, including those whose physical functions have deteriorated, making it difficult for them to go out, and those with dementia who are unable to lead their daily lives without assistance. This current situation will be clarified from a medical professional's point of view, and the effects of the Atomic bomb damage, which are never temporary and last for a long period of life, will be reported by a doctor, a medical social worker (MSW), and an Atomic bomb consultant who have been involved in the medical care and nursing care of hibakusha for many years.
