Japan's Peace Constitution and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons
Organizer: Article 9 Society for Global Peace Charter
The awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Nihon Hidankyo, which has been advocating the inhumanity of nuclear weapons through experiences, is an encouragement to further develop the global anti-nuclear and peace movements. From the perspective of the activities at this time, it is clear that the main focus will be on activities to expand participation in the Nuclear Weapons Convention to the Japanese government and to the rest of the world. At the same time, the peace ideology and movement in Japan, with its Peace Constitution (Preamble and Article 9) created after the atomic bombings, calls for paving the way for a movement to renounce not only nuclear war but also war and war potential. For us, demilitarization and antinuclearism are one thing. Let us pave the way for a Charter for Global Peace through culture and education that enriches and enshrines the idea of peace. We need young people from the region and from Asia to join us!
