Representative, Article9 Society for Global Peace Charter
Professor emeritus at the University of Tokyo. He is a recipient of the Ordre des Palmes académiques, the French “Award of Merit for Education and Culture”. Representative of the Citizen's NGO Association for the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and Representative of the Article 9 Earth Charter Association. He has served as President of the Japan Society of Education, President of the Japan Society of Educational Law, President of the Japan Society for Comprehensive Human Studies, Member of the Science Council of Japan, and Councilor of the World Education Association. His works include “The Global Age and the Idea of Peace,” “Human Formation and Education,” “Education as Human Rights,” “Peace Book,” “In Search of the Free Human Subject,” “To You Who Create the Future, How to Live in the Global Age,” “The Best Interests of Children as the Basis for Child Rearing and Education.
