Born in 1966 in Kagoshima Prefecture and holds a medical doctorate degree from the Graduate School of Biomedical& Health Sciences at Hiroshima University. After working as an assistant professor at the International Radiation Information Center (now the Department of Radiation Data Analysis) of the Hiroshima University Research Institute for Radiation Medicine and Science, he became an associate professor at the Center for Peace Science Research in June 2013. He specializes in atomic bomb and radiation exposure research and peace studies. He continues to conduct research on the psychological effects and social damage of A-bomb survivors, victims of nuclear tests in the Semipalatinsk region of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and victims of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident.
