Chair, Miyagi Atomic Bomb Survivors Association

Appearance: “Atomic Bomb Pictures and Passing On the Atomic Bomb Experience” (February 9, 16:15-17:30, Room 218)

At the age of 8, Kimura was exposed to the atomic bomb in Hiroshima and lost her father and grandfather in the bombing. The grief over her grandfather's death became a major catalyst for her involvement in the hibakusha movement. She contacted Hiroshima Municipal Motomachi Senior High School and asked to have a painting created. She had meetings online with Ms. Kawasaki, the artist. As a member of Nihon Hidankyo, Kimura participated in the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo.
