General practitioner from Nagano Prefecture. After graduating from Shinshu University School of Medicine, Kono did his residency training in Nagano Prefecture and continues to work as a practicing physician in Nagano Prefecture. Kono has been a member of the Association of Physicians Against Nuclear Weapons since her student days and has been involved in anti-nuclear peace movements. Kono is also active locally in the Nagano Physicians Against Nuclear Weapons and the Connecting Hibakushas' Wishes Project and participated in the Second Meeting of States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in 2022.
