MIYAZAKI Sonoko

Born in Hiroshima and raised in Hong Kong, the United States, and Tokyo. After graduating from Keio University, Miyazaki worked at a financial institution before joining the Asahi Shimbun in 2002. After working as a reporter in Kobe, Osaka, and Hiroshima, Miyazaki left the company in 2021. She continues to report and write in Hiroshima while raising two elementary school children. She received the 28th Peace and Cooperation Journalist Fund Award for Encouragement in 2022 for her book “Hibakusha Okada Emiko no Jinsei” (“Individual” in Hiroshima: The Life of Hibakusha Okada Emiko) published by Nishinippon Shuppansha. She writes a column “Doshorun” for JBPress on the 6th of every month, and is an expert author for Yahoo! News Expert Author for Yahoo! News, and MC of “Politus TV.
