OKUBO Kenichi

President, Japan Association of Lawyers Against Nuclear Arms

Attorney at Law, born in Nagano, Japan in 1947. After graduating from Tohoku University Faculty of Law, Okubo entered the Ministry of Justice (worked in the Human Rights Protection Bureau, etc.) and registered as a lawyer in 1979 (Saitama Bar Association). Currently, he serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Nuclear Weapons Abolition of the Constitutional Issues Task Force of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations, Vice President of the NPO “No More Hibakusha: Inheriting the Legacy of Memory”, and Co-Chairman of the Japan NGO Liaison Group for Nuclear Weapons Abolition. He is the co-chair of the Japan NGO Network for Nuclear Weapons Abolition. His most recent book is “Making Use of the Atomic Bomb Trials in Our Time: To Create a World without Nuclear Weapons and Wars."
