Mr. Caughley is a Senior Research Fellow at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), where he is involved in research on the human suffering caused by nuclear weapons, and is the Chair of the New Zealand International Humanitarian Law Commission. During his tenure at the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs in Geneva (2006-2009), Mr. Caughley served as Vice-Chair of the Geneva Disarmament Assembly. He also served as Ambassador and Disarmament Ambassador at the Permanent Mission of New Zealand to the United Nations in Geneva (2002-2006).
