In addition to teaching “Atomic Bomb Discourse” at DePaul University since 2003 and a seminar on “The Nuclear Age” dealing with various nuclear issues since 2015, Miyamoto has conducted the “Hiroshima and Nagasaki Study Tour” almost every two years since 2005. Miyamoto is the author of Beyond the Mushroom Cloud: Commemoration, Religion, and Responsibility after Hiroshima (2011), Naze genbaku ga aku dewa nai noka (2020), A World Otherwise: Environmental Praxis in Minamata (2021), and a translation of The Hanford Plaintiffs: Voices from the Fight for Atomic Justice, and an Akashi Shoten blog from January 2025 on a project started with a fellow Chicago educator, “Discussing Nuclear Weapons with American Middle School Students.”
